He probably is the best example that truck racing and the passion for truck lies in the genes!
Although Sascha Lenz had a great start to the new season at Red Bull Ring scoring two fourth places in the first two races in 2016, some hard times followed as he had to overcome some difficulties in the middle of the season.
The 29-year-old son of 3 times FIA European Cup champion Heinz-Werner Lenz and S.L. Truck Racing Team Manager Silvia Lenz, got back on track in the races at Hungaroring where he scored two fifth places.
Only one week later at Autodrom Most, Sascha took his first visit to the podium when he saw the chequered flag third at the wheel of his bright orange #30 MAN race truck.
At the next round in Belgium, the owner of a towing company even crossed the finish line second place. These two podium positions and his numerous top seven rankings made him win an overall seventh place in the championship and scooping the Young Driver of the Year Award for 2016.
For 2017 Sascha returned with his self-run MAN truck and enjoyed a solid season, getting better as the year went on, scoring three podiums and a pole in the last four race meetings. If this tendency remains for 2018, we can expect a solid year from SL Trucksport, now sporting an eye-catching yellow and black livery on their MAN truck.
