Lutz Bernau has been a fixture in truck racing since 1984. The former European champion first competed as a driver in the Dakar rally and in international truck racing.
In 2005, he has moved to the role of Team Principal and runs the popular Ellen Lohr in the European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC). After racing in the German Formula Ford 1600 (German Champion 1987), Lohr first raced in the DTM (BMW) and the German Formula 3 Championship with VW in 1989/90.
Lohr was the first, and so far only woman to take a DTM victory; at Hockenheim in 1992. In 1997 Lohr started racing in the ETRC at the wheel of Mercedes-Benz racing trucks. Over the years she has raced with different teams in the ETRC and continued to compete in other series and events, including the world famous Dakar Rally.
2015 was a tough year for the team but Lohr scored consistently to place 10th in the final standings and in 2016 she finished ninth with a final flourish at Le Mans where she claimed a podium.
For 2017 the mighty Spaniard Antonio Albacete returned to the FIA ETRC with the Truck Sport Lutz Bernau team. The triple champion took three wins at Slovakia Ring and a pair of famous wins at his home track of Jarama.
2018 sees Albacete return along with FIA ETRC new boy Luis Recuenco.
