Youthful outlook for Buggyra Racing in 2020......

The Buggyra Racing team has stunned the world of truck racing by announcing a remarkable new pairing to race alongside Adam Lacko in next season’s 2020 FIA European Truck Racing Championship.

While Adam Lacko will pilot a new racing special VK50, Teo Calvet will “inherit” his truck of last season and Aliyyah Koloc will compete in a 2018 spec Buggyra Freightliner.

In Calvet and Koloc, Buggyra have presented the youngest ever pairing to participate in the FIA ETRC in the same team with Calvet 18 years of age and Koloc just 16.

Calvet is well-known to the FIA ETRC after two very promising outings with the Lion Truck Racing squad at Nürburgring in 2018 and 2019. On both occasions, the son of former racer and noted truck racing administrator and promoter Fabien Calvet, scored impressive podium finishes.

Koloc is less experienced but has been a revelation in karting and has also shown strong aptitude in private testing with Buggyra Racing.

Both David Vršecký, and Robin Dolejš, as the chief constructor and the racing engineer, respectively, have carefully evaluated the new young guns and are confident that they will both shine.

“We have no problem with this, it is always better when an inexperienced pilot can use top-standard technology than vice versa,” responds David Vršecký, at the same time revealing the team strategy.

“We have plenty of data available and so when Teo and Aliyyah achieve their lap times half a second slower than Adam, we will begin adapting the trucks to the perception and skills of the pilots.

“Before we start doing this they will test, race, consult every lap and speed up one tenth of a second after another.”

Oly Janes, who swept to the 2019 GRAMMER TRUCK CUP title, is set to concentrate on domestic racing in the UK next season but is anticipated to make several appearances in the FIA ETRC.

Commenting on the announcement of Buggyra Racing’s plans for 2020, European Truck Racing Championship Managing Director George Fuchs said: “What a great story we have with Teo and Aliyyah and we welcome them to the FIA ETRC.

“What their full-time promotion to the FIA ETRC indicates is that the next generation of competitors and potential race winners and champions is very strong.

“I am sure they will both attract strong followings and bring additional youthful fans in the FIA ETRC family. Truck racing is cool because it is so unique. Therefore to get such talented young racers in to the series is extremely pleasing and we wish them the best of luck next season,”

“This is a continuation of a young driver strategy which was initially employed by Markus Bauer of MB Motorsport who gave opportunities to young and ambitious drivers like Steffi Halm, Andre Kursim and most recently Fabio Citignola. So, I think it is only right to acknowledge the important work that Markus has done in introducing bright new talent to the FIA ERTC over the years,” concluded Fuchs.

The 2020 FIA ETRC will begin at Hungaroring on April 25-26.
