Hahn grabs eighth pole of the year

Jochen Hahn, in his Team Hahn Racing IVECO, continued his dominance at Circuito del Jarama as he clinched his eighth pole of the year on the final day of the 2018 FIA European Truck Racing Championship season.

Antonio Albacete in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau machine will line up alongside Hahn to form the front row of the grid.

The second row will be comprised of Adam Lacko in Buggyra-run Freightliner and Sascha Lenz in his SL Trucksport MAN.

Norbert Kiss qualified fifth in his Team Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz truck, one place ahead of José Rodrigues in Reboconort MAN.

Yesterday’s race two winner René Reinert, in his self-run MAN, will start from the seventh grid spot.

Anthony Janiec set a very respectable eighth-fastest in his Lion Truck Racing MAN and will start one position ahead of Team Schwabentruck’s IVECO of Steffi Halm.

Shane Brereton was the only GRAMMER TRUCK CUP competitor who managed to break into the top ten aboard his TOR Truck Racing MAN truck.

Timed Practice: Hahn tops red-flagged session

Timed practice was red-flagged early on as José Eduardo Rodrigues spun his truck in the gravel on the outside of the first corner.

Only six drivers managed to set a lap time up to that point. Jochen Hahn went fastest on 1:57.004s, followed by Lacko, Albacete, Kiss, Lenz and Halm.

Once the session was resumed there was only enough time for each driver to have one quick lap.

The top five runners remained in the pits, being satisfied with lap times they had managed to set prior to the session were quick enough.

Reinert and José Rodrigues managed to break into the top five, claiming fourth and fifth respectively.  Halm was pushed down to seventh and Lenz – eighth. The top ten was rounded out by Brereton and Janiec.

André Kursim whose Don’t Touch Racing team made herculean effort to rebuild his IVECO overnight missed out on top ten spot and will start Race 3 from 11th on the grid.

He will be joined by, second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP, Oly Janes in the second of the Freightliners run by Buggyra International Racing System.

Places 14th to 19th went to the following GRAMMER competitors: Luis Recuenco (Truck Sport Lutz Bernau/MAN), Steffen Faas (Team Tankpool24 Racing/Mercedes-Benz), Terry Gibbon (T-Sport/MAN), Jamie Anderson (Anderson Racing/MAN), Erwin Kleinnagelvoort (EK Truck Race/Scania), Ray Coleman (LRS/MAN) and Eduardo Rodrigues (Reboconort/MAN).

José Albert Vila Sainz in his Ultime Vuelta MAN was once again the fastest among local racers who bolstered the FIA ETRC grid a Jarama.

The Spaniard qualified ahead Frans Smit in his “rainbow warrior” Scania and Pedro Ignacio Garcia Marco in his IVECO.

Frankie Vojtisek wasn’t cleared to race by the medical team following yesterday’s Race 1 pile up.
