Kiss and Faas Outline 2018 Aims for Tankpool24 Racing

Tankpool24 Racing officially unveiled their campaign in the 2018 FIA European Truck Racing Championship in Germany yesterday.

The team paraded its new-look Mercedes-Benz truck and driver line-up of Norbert Kiss and Steffen Faas at the special event.

Kiss, Faas and Team Principal Markus Bauer introduced the team and trucks for this season at the Mercedes-Benz Werk facility in Wörth, Bavaria.

The Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz trucks feature a revised livery for 2018 and also a new partnership for the team with Roadstars Powered by Mercedes-Benz trucks.

“2018 looks promising and my aim is to be battling in the top of the field again this season,” said double champion Kiss.

“We want to be better than last year, but winning the title might be too difficult as the field is big and strong this year, but we will be pushing hard.”

For Steffen Faas 2018 represents a first full season in the FIA ETRC after some promising runs for Team Schwabentruck last season in Germany and Slovakia.

Faas is aiming for success in the Cup competition for CHROME categorised drivers, a special championship aimed at independent, new and emerging drivers.

“Truck racing is so different from anything else I have experienced so far in terms of the family-like atmosphere in the paddock,” said Faas.

“I got such a warm welcome from all teams and fans last year, it was fantastic. The FIA ETRC is the most exciting thing I have done in my career so far.

“Racing aboard a truck is completely different because of the different engine, the brakes/braking behaviour, sitting high up in the cabin and the focal point is directly above the front axle, it is challenging,” explained Faas.

Tankpool24 Racing recently tested at Red Bull Ring in Austria as part of their preparations for the 2018 campaign.

20 season entrants have been received for this year’s FIA ETRC, the biggest for over a decade. With several race-by-race trucks expected during the season, some races will see the healthiest grids for many years.
