Hahn doubles up to take another Jarama win

Jochen Hahn added a second FIA European Truck Racing Championship victory to his Jarama weekend this afternoon when he took his Hahn Racing MAN truck to a comfortable victory.

The German led away from pole position and controlled the 12-lap race opening up a one second buffer by the third lap and thus stretching out hid point’s gap to 36 points with 70 to play for before the end of the season next weekend at Le Mans.

Despite Lacko’s best efforts the Buggyra International Racing System driver was unable to put significant pressure on Hahn and was forced to settle for second position just as he had done in race two yesterday. Hahn eventually took the chequered flag 1.623s ahead of Lacko after backing off significantly in the final few laps.

Rene Reinert mirrored his result in race one on Saturday to claim another podium position and extend his third place in the 2016 points standings. Reinert’s teammate Steffi Halm just held on to fourth position despite intense pressure from Norbert Kiss.

Halm had jumped Kiss’ Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz at the start and opened up a gap but as the race wore on the reigning champion latched on to her tail. The two finished just 0.863s apart.

Anthony Janiec made up places after being given a grid penalty for an incident in race one yesterday. The Frenchman took sixth position ahead of Sascha Lenz, but only by 0.750s. Like race one on Saturday Ellen Lohr took eighth place to ensure a second reverse grid pole position at Jarama.

The final points went to Andre Kursim (Tankpool24 Racing) and the Portuguese newcomer Jose Fernando Rodrigues who completed a strong performance to score his first ever point in the FIA ETRC.

Erwin Kleinnagelvoort came in 11th just ahead of Eduardo Rodrigues and Jiri Forman who lost a likely point when he was given a stop-go penalty for hitting penalty markers. Finnish youngster John Hemming secured 14th place in his self-run Mercedes-Benz.

The highest placed national contender was again Pedro Marco who placed 16th just behind the third of the Rodrigues clan – Jose Eduardo.

The fourth and final race of the Jarama weekend takes place at 15.00 local time.
